PRESSING ISSUES

Through nine games of the 2024 season, penalties have been a recurring issue for the Packers on both offense and defense. While penalties are always detrimental, they have repeatedly stalled drives and shifted momentum to the opponent this season.
The Packers rank 6th in the league for penalties against, with 66 penalties resulting in a loss of 480 yards and stalling multiple drives. Conversely, the Packers have benefited from 55 penalties called on opposing teams, gaining 442 yards. This leaves the team with a net penalty count of -11, meaning they’ve committed 11 more penalties than those called in their favor.
The coaching staff needs to address these mental lapses and drive down these numbers significantly. Far too often, a penalty on offense brings an otherwise promising drive to an end, while a defensive penalty extends a drive for the opposition. Reducing these costly mistakes will be essential for maintaining control of games and improving overall team performance.
